Despite challenges from News Corp's Fox and Disney's ABC/ESPN, Comcast's NBC Universal will retain rights to Olympic Games telecasts through 2020. This includes the 2014 Winter Games in Sochi, the 2016 Summer Games in Rio de Janeiro, and the 2018 and 2020 events at locations to be determined, according to USA Today.

NBC already had the rights to the 2012 London games.

The major upshot to be determined remains whether or not NBC will continue to show the events on tape delay, or switch to a live broadcast model. Both FOX and ABC/ESPN had proposed to move to live broadcasts.
