There's been an outbreak of Bruins fever in Foxboro.
Three Patriots assistant coaches — offensive coordinator Bill O'Brien, safeties coach Matt Patricia and offensive line coach Dante Scarnecchia — are all actively rooting for the Bruins to take down the Canucks in the Stanley Cup Final. The trio were interviewed on "Patriots Today."
"I love the Bruins," said O'Brien, a Dorchester native and lifelong Bruins fan. "It's pretty cool to watch. I love watching playoff hockey. It's fast. It's competitive."
Patricia, who is from New York, doesn't appear to have the same allegiance as O'Brien, but he's pulling for the New England region.
"There's nothing better than playoff hockey," Patricia said. "It's so exciting. I think the atmosphere is great, and it's good for the area. I'm all about it."
Scarnecchia is all about the coach. He sympathizes with Claude Julien and the heavy amount of criticism that comes with the territory of such a high-profile job in a sports-hungry town.
"My interest in the Bruins really goes to Claude Julien because no one gets hammered more than that guy," Scarnecchia said. "Yet, as a coach, I really relate to that guy, and I respect him. I love the job that he's done. I appreciate the way he has stuck to his guns through this whole thing despite all the criticism.
"You've got to think this guy is really doing a great job with these guys. I hope they win it. I really do. It would be a great thing for them and for this whole region."
