The Celtics had the 25th pick in the first round of the NBA draft, but in the end, it looks like it's going to be pick No. 27 who is heading to Boston.
The Celtics traded the draft rights for the No. 25 pick in which they took Providence scorer Marshon Brooks to the Nets for the rights to the No. 27 pick, JaJuan Johnson out of Purdue, and a 2014 second-round pick.
Johnson, the Big 10 Player of the Year and Defensive Player of the Year, is a 6-foot-10 forward/center who also scored 20.5 points per game while pulling down 8.6 rebounds per contest last season for the Boilermakers.
"We didn't think he'd be there and he was," Celtics coach Doc Rivers said. "He's a terrific shooter for his size. We like his upside."
The Indianapolis native saw his numbers improve across the board in each of his four seasons playing at Purdue.
