There’s no place like home. Or so the Pittsburgh Steelers coaches would like Plaxico Burress to think.
The Pittsburgh Post-Gazette’s Gerry Dulac tweeted Monday afternoon that Steelers “coaches are interested in Burress but depends on price.”
The one-time Steeler and New York Giant, who was released from prison on June 6 after serving 21 months for his involvement in the accidental shooting (of himself) in a New York City nightclub, has had his name connected to many teams since walking out from behind bars. Both the Philadelphia Eagles and the New York Jets apparently have interest in signing Burress, and now it seems they will have to compete with the team that drafted him.
Dulac also claimed that the Steelers would move Antwaan Randle El to make room for the 6-foot-5 receiver from Michigan State.
If the Steelers do bring Burress back to the Steel City, he will join the likes of Hines Ward and Mike Wallace to complete a terrifying trio of dynamic wide receivers. While it remains to be seen if the soon-to-be 34-year-old can return to his Super Bowl-winning form, if he can, he will only improve Pittsburgh’s chances of heading to Lucas Oil Stadium for Super Bowl XLVI.
