It's not often that you hear a two-time MVP's name come up in trade discussions, but that's exactly the case with 37-year-old Phoenix Suns point guard Steve Nash.

The Suns have discussed a potential trade with the Minnesota Timberwolves this month that would send Nash to the T-Wolves in exchange for the second overall pick in this year's NBA draft, according to ESPN.com.

The talks reportedly haven't advanced past the exploratory stage, though, and the two teams apparently came to a "mutual conclusion" that such a trade would not work for Minnesota because of Nash's desire to play for an established title contender if the Suns end up moving him.

According to ESPN, the Suns covet Arizona forward Derrick Williams, who is expected to be taken with the No. 2 pick. The Suns also publicly denied that they offered the T-Wolves a combination of Marcin Gortat and the No. 13 pick for the second pick instead of Nash.

When all is said and done, Nash will most likely remain in Phoenix, as Suns president Lon Babby remains adament about the team's unwillingness to deal the seven-time All-Star.

"I have said it a zillion times. We are not trading Steve Nash," Babby told Doug & Wolf on Sports 620 KTAR on Wednesday. Babby also told The Arizona Republic that he is not trading Nash, nor is he trading Gortat.
