FOXBORO, Mass. — Patriots defensive lineman Ron Brace is hosting his first charity event Thursday to aid in the tornado relief efforts for his hometown of Springfield, Mass.

Brace's childhood home was slightly damaged during last week's tornadoes, but his family and friends were unharmed. Still, since the storms hit, he's been trying to draw up a plan to help the families who lost their homes.

On Monday, Brace's friend suggested running a fashion show, and he ran with it. Enlisting the help of his friends and connections in the area, Brace hooked up a "Beauty and the Beast" fashion show at 10 p.m. Thursday at Saint on Exeter Street in Boston. Tickets will cost $10, and Brace encouraged people to arrive early.

Brace, who will make a donation of his own, said he'll be walking in the show, and Patriots teammates Jermaine Cunningham and Brandon Tate have confirmed they'll also attend.

"I've been racking my brain ever since it happened literally to try to find something to do in order to try to make some money for [Springfield] and just try to help some of these people get their homes back, recuperate from the disaster that happened," Brace said. "I think it's going to be a good jump on trying to get it back to where it was, make it even better possibly. I really can't wait for it."

This won't be the only event Brace will host. He's also been thinking of some more family-oriented events that will take place in Springfield, maybe a cookout of some sort.

"That's where I was born and raised," Brace said. "That made me the person I am today. That's why I got it tattooed on my back. I can't forget where I came from. Everybody I love lives there. I can't look at it like it is now. I've got to have it back to the way I know it is and the way I know it could be."
