Convicted felon Giovanni Ramirez will remain in jail after a hearing was held Friday in a Los Angeles jail, according to ESPN.com.
The hearing determined that there was no direct link in terms of evidence that tied Ramirez to the beating, but it was decided that Ramirez would remain in jail thanks to an alleged parole violation having to do with an unrelated gun charge.
Ramirez, suspected of beating a fan into a coma at Dodger Stadium on March 31, sat through the hearing that also reviewed evidence including whether the alleged assault had been committed with intent to induce great bodily injury.
"There wasn't sufficient evidence to show there was probable cause to charge him with assault," Ramirez's attorney, J. Christopher Smith said.
However, the fact that Ramirez remains in jail has given police detectives time to gain more evidence, on top of the fact that little information was presented in regards to the beating at the hearing on Friday.
