Carl Crawford got off to a slow start in his first season with the Red Sox, but he's since turned his season around and has been a key component of the team's recent success. Now, Red Sox manager Terry Francona will be forced to make some adjustments with Crawford headed to the disabled list with a strained left hamstring.
Josh Reddick has been recalled from Triple-A Pawtucket in the wake of Crawford's injury. Francona said that with Crawford out of the lineup, the Sox lineup could vary on a nightly basis. He expects to use a combination of Reddick, Darnell McDonald, Mike Cameron and Drew Sutton in his place.
NESN's Peter Gammons says Crawford's speed at the bottom of the order will be missed big time.
To hear what else Francona had to say, as well as what impact Gammons thinks Crawford's injury will have on the Sox, check out the video above from Red Sox First Pitch.
