In What Year Will Blue Jays First-Round Pick Tyler Beede Make His Major League Debut? Lawrence Academy's Tyler Beede has been regarded by many as the state's best prospect in a decade. The Blue Jays were so impressed with the pitcher that they selected him 21st overall in last week's MLB draft.

The 6-foot-4 Beede features a fastball that can reach the mid 90s, as well as quality secondary pitches and a solid delivery. The right-hander was 8-0 with a 0.69 ERA and 102 strikeouts in 51 innings with Lawrence Academy in 2011.

He's now set to take his talents to Vanderbilt, a decision he said was based on academics. The commitment made some wonder if Beede would be selected in the first round, but the Blue Jays found the Northeast's No. 1 prospect too talented to pass up.

Beede said he had no idea he was about to be selected when the Blue Jays picked him, so it was shocking when he first heard his name called.

It may only be a matter of time before Beede gets another call — a call up to the majors.
