In the first round of the "Red Sox Showdown for the Ages," two of the franchise's forgotten teams — the 1977 and 2008 teams — squared off. It was a pretty easy victory for the 2008 bunch, the same team that came up short in the ALCS a year after the 2007 squad won the World Series.
