The team announced the deal on Thursday afternoon, but the terms of the deals were not revealed. The B's also inked forward Craig Cunningham and defenseman Zack McKelvie to deals.
The 24-year-old McQuaid just finished his first full season in Boston, proving to be a vital piece on the blue line for the Stanley Cup champions. He was a plus-30 in his 67 regular season games with the B's, a figure that ranked first among NHL rookies and fifth overall.
McQuaid, a second-round pick of the Columbus Blue Jackets in the 2005 draft, totaled 15 points on three goals and 12 assists this season in Boston. Perhaps more importantly, though, McQuaid showed no fear in mixing it up and playing physical registering 94 penalty minutes.
He also added four assists in 23 games in the Bruins' run to their first Stanley Cup title in nearly 40 years seeing just over 13 minutes of ice time per game, after averaging just over 15 minutes per game during the regular season.
