Carl Crawford lofted a bloop single just beyond the reach of Durham Bulls second baseman Felipe Lopez in the first at-bat of his rehab start Friday night in Pawtucket.

Crawford, playing the first leg of a two-game assignment as he comes back from a strained hamstring, was cheered loudly when he came to bat with two runners on base in the bottom of the first inning.

His single scored Che-Hsuan Lin from third base to give the PawSox a 1-0 lead.

After the single, Crawford appeared to move well advancing to second base on a groundout. He took several semi-aggressive leads off second base, where he was stranded to end the inning.
