The Carlos Beltran rumors this week are going to make last week's New England heatwave look like a mid-January nor'easter.

Or not, based on the latest rumors from two National League teams who were believed to be heavy favorites in the C.B. sweepstakes.

According to Yahoo, Phillies right-handed pitching prospect Jarred Cosart is unavailable to deal, meaning the Phils could no longer be one of the front-runners for the Mets' right fielder.

Out west, Giants general manager Brian Sabean told the San Fransisco Chronicle that "we're not close" to acquiring Beltran.
