Red Sox fans know a thing or two about sellouts. But even the Fenway Faithful's Major League record streak pales in comparison to that of the Dayton Dragons, a Class A affiliate of the Cincinnati Reds.
The Dragons enjoyed their 814th consecutive sellout at Fifth Third Field on Saturday, tying the all-time sports record held by the NBA's Portland Trail Blazers from 1977 to 1995.
The team is now in the midst of a six-game road trip, but they have a chance to break the record when they return home on Saturday, July 9.
The Dragons, located in Dayton, Ohio, play in the Class A Midwest League and have sold out every game in their 12-year history.
Donning the color green, a far cry from the Reds' Big Red Machine, the Dragons provide a unique Minor League Baseball experience for fans — many of whom own season tickets.
In recent years, Dayton, located 52 miles from Cincinnati, has been a temporary stop for major league stars Joey Votto, Adam Dunn and Jay Bruce.
