In 1975, Fenway was home to one of the most successful Red Sox teams up to that point, as they won the AL pennant. With Carlton Fisk, Carl Yastrzemski, Jim Rice, Fred Lynn and Cecil Cooper, it was one of the most star-studded Sox lineups to grace Fenway.

The Sox went 47-34 in the shadow of the Green Monster, highlighted by Lynn's outstanding rookie season, during which he won the AL Rookie of the Year and AL MVP.

Although the Sox lost to the Big Red Machine in seven games in the World Series, one of the most memorable plays in baseball history occurred under the lights of Fenway that series.

In Game 6, with the Red Sox down 3-2 in the series, Carlton Fisk stepped up to the plate in the bottom of the 12th. On the second pitch from Pat Darcy, Fisk drove the ball down toward the iconic Monster and, as the ball looked to tail toward foul ground, Fisk motioned it back into fair territory. He waved his arms as he hopped down the first baseline until the ball struck the foul poll, giving the Red Sox a 7-6 victory.
