Remember this name folks: Eliezer Sherbatov.
Or don’t even bother trying to pronounce it. Either way, Mr. Sherbatov will certainly have his 15 minutes of fame in the hockey world.
At the IIHF Division III World Championships in Cape Town, Africa, the Israeli national hockey team’s standout skater — who also plays with the Montreal Juniors or Baie-Comeau Drakkar of the QMJHL, according to Puck Daddy — pulled off the goal of the century.
Sherbatov led the Israelis to a gold medal with 14 goals and 26 points in just four tournament games. In fact, this amazing goal came during the team’s 26-2 trouncing of Greece, which allowed 79 goals in four games.
