Demolition derby is a dangerous sport, where one false move by a driver can lead to serious injury or even death. The level of concentration required by a demolition derby driver is what makes the story of David Warner Jr. so unbelievable.

Warner was arrested for driving under the influence shortly after taking home first place in the Jessamine (Ky.) County Fair demolition derby small car division last Wednesday, according to Central Kentucky News.

The 36-year-old was questioned by police after they received "some complaints from officials and the crowd that [Warner] was drunk," Nicholasville Police Department Capt. Chris Cain said.

Warner was reportedly acting belligerent and refused a breathalyzer test, prompting officers to arrest him.

Witnesses reported seeing Warner finish "several Bud Light beers" prior to competing in the derby, which luckily resulted in no injuries.

"Even being in a demolition derby, there are some rules they have to follow," Cain said, "and being impaired can lead to more risks than what they are already taking by doing that."

Warner was released on bond from Jessamine County Detention Center and has a court date scheduled for July 26.
