Stewart Downing's arrival in Liverpool is getting closer to becoming a reality.

The Reds have had their eye on Downing, and Downing also said that he would prefer to join Liverpool over other teams, like Arsenal. On Wednesday, LFC announced that it had agreed to a transfer fee with Aston Villa.

Kenny Dalglish
addressed the media in Malaysia after the team's win over Guangdong Sunray Cave, saying the Reds had been given permission to speak to the winger, LiverpoolFC.tv reports.

"We will now try to agree personal terms with him, but it will all depend on the medical. It is a work in progress and we will see what happens and keep you informed," Dalglish told the media.
