With the Liverpool midfield conundrum still trying to work itself out, it continues to look like the first domino to fall could be Alberto Aquilani, as the Italian is still seeking a return to Italy.

After a few weeks of "will he or won't he," it appears Aquilani's transfer to Fiorentina will likely happen, but not on a permanent basis. Instead, the club is set to take the midfielder on a season-long loan.

According to the Daily Mail, the loan move could be finished up soon, as Aquilani and his representative flew to Florence to open up some more conversation.

"Aquilani is still a Liverpool player," Aquilani's agent Franco Zavaglia told the Daily Mail. "However, we have to understand what the project is there and speak with them. I don't know if there is an agreement already between the two clubs."
