A day after American League captain David Ortiz rounded out his squad for the Home Run Derby, National League captain Prince Fielder followed suit.

Fielder selected Matt Kemp of the Los Angeles Dodgers, Matt Holliday of the St. Louis Cardinals and Rickie Weeks of the Milwaukee Brewers to swing for the fences alongside him at this year's event.

Kemp entered Tuesday tied with Lance Berkman for the NL lead in home runs with 22. He hit a career-high 28 last season.

Weeks, who is Fielder's teammate, hit a career-high 29 home runs last season and is off to a powerful start this season, having hit 15 home runs entering Tuesday.

Holliday participated in the event last season and in 2007 as a member of the Colorado Rockies. He was ousted in the first round of last year's contest, but he advanced to the second round of the 2007 event. This season, Holliday only has 10 home runs thus far — the least of any of the competition's participants.

Fielder said that selecting the trio that would represent the National League with him was difficult. He said that he wanted someone from the Diamondbacks to be in the contest since the All-Star festivities are being held at Chase Field, but that he knows the guys he picked well.

Chris Young leads the Diamondbacks with 16 home runs this season, and Justin Upton had previously said he was interested in participating.

Ortiz's AL team will feature himself, Red Sox teammate Adrian Gonzalez, Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano and the major league home run leader Jose Bautista.
