Nobody outside of the organization knows just how serious the Red Sox are in potentially acquiring Carlos Beltran from the Mets, but it appears they'll continue their pursuit through the final week of July.

ESPN's Buster Olney reported via Twitter that the Mets are down to "five serious teams" with regard to Beltran, and the Red Sox are still one of them. The rest of the crop reportedly includes San Francisco, Phillies, Atlanta, Texas. The teams no longer involved, according to Olney, are Cleveland and Pittsburgh.

"As of two days ago, the Giants were thought by the Mets to be the frontrunner in the Beltran talks; other teams have stepped up since," Olney wrote.
