The Detroit Lions have signed linebacker Stephen Tulloch to a one-year contract, according to ESPN's Adam Schefter.

Considered by many to be the top free agent linebacker available, Tulloch finished 2010 with 160 tackles, second only to New England's Jerod Mayo, who had 175. The 26-year-old led the Titans in tackles the previous two seasons and became a full-time starter last season.

A fourth round draft choice out of N.C. State, Tulloch will make $3.35 million this season with $1.8 million guaranteed.

Tulloch confirmed the news on his Twitter page and singled out Titans teammates Cortland Finnegan and Michael Griffin for their help as mentors.
