Report: Detroit Tigers Express Interest in Derek Lowe

The Tigers need a pitcher to plug a hole in their rotation, and Derek Lowe could be that missing piece.

Sources told FOXsports.com that the Tigers are interested in the veteran pitcher, although the Tigers and Braves haven't engaged in serious talks yet.

The Braves still owe the 38-year-old $6 million for this year, and if they fail to get rid of Lowe, they will owe him $15 million next year as well. He is 5-7 with a 4.30 ERA so far this season.

Lowe, of course, pitched eight seasons in Boston and was a key component of the team's 2004 World Series win. He won the clinching game in all three of the team's playoff series that year.
