Report: Wide Receiver Plaxico Burress Signs With New York Jets The New York Jets may have missed out on signing cornerback Nnamdi Asomugha, but the team compensated on Sunday by adding another top free agent.

ESPN's Adam Schefter reports that wide receiver Plaxico Burress will sign with the New York Jets. The troubled wideout has signed a one-year deal worth $3,017,000, all guaranteed.

Burress was released from prison July 6, having been convicted of criminal possession of a weapon and reckless endagerment, both felonies. The conviction followed an incident in November, 2008, when Burress shot himself in the leg when a gun mistakingly went off in his pocket. The player spent nearly two years in prison.

Earlier this week, Burress met with his two formers teams, the Pittsburgh Steelers and New York Giants, regarding a possible return.
