The Yankees are rumored to be adding a southpaw to the mix before Sunday, but which pitcher will be donning new pinstripes by Aug. 1?

According to Joel Sherman, New York would "pay big" to get A's starter Gio Gonzalez. The 25-year-old is 9-7 and ranks eighth in the American League with 124 strikeouts and seventh with a 2.67 ERA. Last summer he went 15-9 with a 3.23 ERA and earned his first trip to the All-Star Game earlier this month.

In his fourth big league season, Gonzalez is 31-27 to go with a 3.95 ERA.
