The American League Home Run Derby captain, David Ortiz, has spoken. Yankees second baseman Robinson Cano will be in the 2011 Home Run Derby, rounding out the American League team.

Cano joins Ortiz, Adrian Gonzalez, and MLB home run leader Jose Bautista on the AL derby team, which means the team will feature all American League East players.

Under the event's new rules, the 2011 Home Run Derby will now have a team and individual component to it.

Ortiz and Milwaukee's Prince Fielder were named captains of the AL and NL squads, respectively, and they were able to invite three players each to be on their derby teams. Whichever team ends up with the most home runs, regardless of whether the individual champion is on their team, will receive more than just bragging rights this year — the MLB will donate $150,000 to the charity of the winning team's choice.

The 2011 Home Run Derby will be held Monday, July 11 at Chase Field in Phoenix.
