Seattle’s Erik Bedard Can’t Get Out of Second Inning in Disastrous Start Against Rays

Erik Bedard likely left a lasting impression in his last start before Sunday's non-waiver MLB trade deadline. Too bad for the Mariners that impression was a terrible one.

Bedard, the subject of plenty of trade rumors including some involving the Red Sox, went only 1 1/3 innings in his start on Friday night against the Rays.

With scouts from both the Red Sox and Yankees reportedly looking on, Bedard was shelled by a Tampa Bay team that he has historically pitched well against. Bedard surrendered five runs on just three hits and didn't help his case one bit by walking four. Bedard threw 57 pitches and only 28 of them were for strikes.
