Twenty-five years after achieving his goal of knocking Liverpool "off their bloody perch," Sir Alex Ferguson is acknowledging the resurgence the Reds have made over the last half of a year.

Ferguson, manager of Manchester United, told the Liverpool Echo that although "Liverpool were off the radar for a bit … they are back on it."

After surpassing the Reds with their 19th English League title, Ferguson could see Liverpool come back strong this year and threaten to return the favor of perch-knocking.

"One of those four [Arsenal, Chelsea, Liverpool, Manchester City] will always be a thorn in our flesh. They are our immediate challengers. History doesn't change," Ferguson told the Echo. "No matter where it comes from, somewhere along the line we are going to be faced with a big challenge from one of those four great clubs."
