The New England Revolution looked poised to pick up a victory and hand Sporting Kansas City its first defeat in 13 games. Instead, substitute Teal Bunbury netted an equalizer in the 89th minute that led to a draw at LIVESTRONG Sporting Park on Saturday.
Rajko Lekic's fourth goal of the season put the Revs on top 1-0 in the 38th minute, but the team was forced to play shorthanded at the end of the game after rookie A.J. Soares was ejected in the 82nd minute.
Sporting KC was able to use the man advantage to score the tying goal just before stoppage time, ensuring that their unbeaten streak would reach 13 games.
With the draw, though, the Revs remained unbeaten during their three-game road trip. They'll now return home to Gillette Stadium on Aug. 6, when they'll face Chivas USA. It will mark a stretch during which the Revolution will play three out of the next four games at home.
