Tim Wakefield’s Bid for 200th Win Crippled by One Pitch That ‘Didn’t Do What It Was Supposed to Do’

Tim Wakefield was bordering on dominant on Friday night. He would have been totally dominant had it not been for one unfortunate stretch in the seventh inning, a stretch that potentially cost him his 200th win.

Wakefield gave up a two-run home run to White Sox catcher A.J. Pierzynski in the bottom of the seventh inning that gave the White Sox a 3-1 lead, a lead that they would hold onto, leaving Wakefield stuck on 199.

After the game, Wakefield talked about the one mistake to Pierzynski, and the veteran knuckleballer was already looking forward to his next start which will come at home on Wednesday in front of the Fenway Park crowd.

See all of what he had to say in the video above.
