On Sunday, the NFL players confirmed what Patriots fans have known for years — Tom Brady is the best player in the NFL.
Brady was given the No. 1 ranking in the NFL Network's "Top 100 Players of 2011," the final 10 of which were announced on Sunday.
The quarterback's league MVP award for the 2010-11 season was the latest achievement on his astonishingly impressive resume, which includes three Super Bowl wins, two Super Bowl MVPs, six Pro Bowl selections and two NFL Offensive Player of the Year awards.
Brady was also previously been ranked No. 21 on NFL.com's 100 Greatest Players of All Time list in 2009.
"I think the players got it right," NFL.com's Elliot Harrison wrote. "Tom Brady was the league's MVP last season, had one of the best statistical seasons ever, isn't a distraction to his team, owns three Super Bowl rings and plays hard every Sunday. He's a pro's pro."
The longtime argument over who was superior — Brady or Peyton Manning — was apparently on the minds of the players as well, as the Colts quarterback was ranked second in the Top 100.
After Manning came Vikings running back Adrian Peterson at No. 3 and the Ravens' stellar defensive duo of Ray Lewis and Ed Reed at Nos. 4 and 5, respectively. Troy Polamalu, Andre Johnson, Darrelle Revis, Drew Brees and Julius Peppers rounded out the top 10.
