The Red Sox have 72 games remaining in the 2011 regular season. Because of the expectations heaped on this team before the season began, and because it is in first place with the best record in the American League at the All-Star break, whatever happens in the second half will be memorable.
Either the squad fulfills those expectations and runs away with things, or it breaks the hearts of New Englanders. Or something in between, which still figures to provide drama in its own way.
Someday we may look at it as one of the more memorable stretch runs in franchise history. If so, it will be stacked against some of the following seasons, your top 10 second halves in Red Sox history. (These are not entirely based on record, but more so on circumstance.)
