The "Red Sox Showdown for the Ages" is only through two rounds, and the search for the best all-time Red Sox lineup has just begun.

Some of the best players in the history of baseball manned first base, and in Boston, some of the best Red Sox of all time stood there at Fenway Park. Of course, it's tough to start a conversation about all-time first basemen without mentioning Jimmie Foxx. Double-X smashed the ball all over Fenway on his way to putting up some of the greatest offensive seasons in team history. Fan favorite Mo Vaughn must also be mentioned in any conversation about first-base greatness, something that is solidified by his 1995 MVP trophy. There was also George Scott, who could pick it with the best of them, winning three Gold Gloves as a member of the Red Sox (and eight overall in his career). And it's also probably pretty safe to assume that current Sox first baseman Adrian Gonzalez will be well-represented in this argument someday sooner than later.
