FOXBORO, Mass. — Defensive lineman Albert Haynesworth practiced for the third consecutive day, increasing the likelihood that he'll be able to make his preseason debut Saturday night against the Lions.

The Patriots were missing the same 14 players at Thursday's practice as the day before, including running back Stevan Ridley, cornerback Leigh Bodden, running back Kevin Faulk, cornerback Malcolm Williams, running back Eric Kettani, linebacker Jeff Tarpinian, linebacker Dane Fletcher, linebacker Brandon Spikes, offensive lineman Marcus Cannon, offensive lineman Ryan Wendell, defensive lineman Brandon Deaderick, linebacker Jermaine Cunningham, defensive lineman Ron Brace and defensive lineman Mike Wright.

The team wore shorts and shells for their 25th practice of the season, and that was probably a welcomed respite after going in full pads for the last three days, especially in Thursday's humidity.

The Patriots' schedule Thursday and Friday very much resembles their itinerary for the regular season in the two days prior to a game, and they'll conduct a closed walkthrough Friday before departing for Detroit for their third preseason contest.
