Crawford's walk-off swings ended games on May 1, May 10 and May 19 against the Mariners, Twins and Tigers, respectively. But it's Ellsbury who has stolen the show the past two nights.
"That's fine with me because we love walk-offs on this team," he said. "…At the end of the day, we just want to win."
Crawford, who experienced his own up-and-down stretches earlier this season, is impressed with the way Ellsbury has bounced back to post a solid 2011 campaign.
"After missing the whole year last year then coming on and having the dream season he's having, it's nice to see and he's only going to continue to get better," Crawford said of Ellsbury, whom David Ortiz said is playing like a "superstar" following Wednesday night's win.
Crawford's praise of Ellsbury and willingness to give up his walk-off crown shouldn't come as a surprise. But what the speedy left fielder found surprising was the Yankees not making a move prior to Sunday's non-waiver trade deadline. He said that a trade often gives a team a boost, which could be the case with Erik Bedard.
"It's like a little boost of energy," he said. "You got a new fresh face coming in and everybody's excited about it, so it kind of lifts you up a little bit, you know, just want to catch that second wind."
