Eagles Sign Ronnie Brown to One-Year Deal The Philadelphia Eagles continued their offseason makeover on Tuesday afternoon when they added a little backfield depth.

The Eagles announced that they signed free-agent running back Ronnie Brown to a one-year contract. The 29-year-old Brown is a six-year veteran of the league, playing all of his football as a member of the Miami Dolphins.

Brown wasn't expected to re-sign in Miami, a notion that was bolstered further when the Dolphins acquired Reggie Bush from the Saints.

Brown played in all 16 games for the Dolphins last season, but he ran for only 734 yards on 200 carries. That gave Brown an average 3.7 yards per carry, his lowest average since becoming a pro.

The Auburn product will join a backfield that features LeSean McCoy, who had something of a breakout season in 2010, when he ran for 1,080 yards.

The Brown signing continues a busy offseason for the Eagles. Last week, they surprised the football world when they signed top free agent Nnamdi Asomugha. Philly has also inked former Tennessee quarterback Vince Young to be its backup for Michael Vick.
