Erik Bedard Overcomes Early Nerves in Red Sox Debut, Able to Command Strike Zone in ‘Solid Start’

Erik Bedard was making his 17th start of the season on Thursday night at Fenway Park. However, with it being his first start wearing a Red Sox uniform, the left-hander admitted after the game that he was a little nervous heading into the debut.

Bedard likened the start to making your first start of the season, but despite that and the result (a 7-3 Red Sox loss), he said he was pleased with the way he threw the ball. Most importantly, he said, was that he threw strikes and felt healthy in his first game as a member of the Red Sox.
