Terry Francona's lineup looks decidedly different on Tuesday night than it did on Monday night thanks in large part to the fact that left-hander Francisco Liriano is on the mound for the Twins.

Jed Lowrie will make his second start in as many nights since returning to the Red Sox lineup after injuring his shoulder, although this time it's in place of shortstop Marco Sctuaro. While Scutaro is 8-for-12 in his last three games, Lowrie enters the night hitting .380 against lefties.

Darnell McDonald also returns to the Boston lineup with the left-hander on the mound. McDonald is 0-for-2 with a pair of strikeouts in his career against Liriano.

And with Erik Bedard on the mound, Jason Varitek returns to catch for the left-hander in his second start in a Red Sox uniform. Varitek caught Bedard when he made his debut for Boston last week against the Indians.

Kevin Youkilis is back one night after getting the night off. He's had relative success in his career against Liriano, hitting .364 (4-for-11), as had Dustin Pedroia who hit Liriano at a .600 (6-for-10) clip.
