Tuesday night’s Rays starter Jeff Niemann was dominant the last time he faced the Red Sox on July 17 in Tampa.

Niemann threw eight shutout innings in that outing, during which the right-hander only allowed two hits and struck out 10. The Rays prevailed in that game, 1-0.

NESN’s Jerry Remy said before his start on Tuesday night that he believes it’s Niemann’s height that helps him be so deceptive at times. He stands at 6-foot-9 and weighs 260 pounds, making him a physical specimen on the hill.
