Jon Lester Credits Yankees for Good At-Bats in Sixth Inning, Says Walks Will ‘Kill You Every Time’

Jon Lester entered Friday night's matchup against the Yankees having enjoyed a great deal of success against them recently. But with one bad inning, the left-hander was dealt his fifth loss of the season.

After the game, Lester pointed to the four walks he issued as a major reason for his loss. He issued a free pass to the No. 9 hitter, Eduardo Nunez, to begin the sixth inning, during which the Yankees went on to score three runs.

Lester credited the Yankees for stringing together solid at-bats during their three-run sixth. He said that he felt like the Red Sox had dictated both sides of the plate until that point.
