Mike Aviles Makes First Career Appearance in Outfield as Red Sox Face Yankees Ace CC Sabathia

Mike Aviles makes his first appearance in the outfield as the Red Sox host the Yankees on Saturday at Fenway Park.

Aviles, the sixth player to man right field for the Red Sox this season, bats sixth between left-handers David Ortiz and Carl Crawford. Yankees left-hander CC Sabathia (16-5, 2.55 ERA) tries to push the Yankees' lead in the AL East to two games and become the first pitcher in baseball to get to 17 wins this season.

Red Sox right-hander John Lackey (9-8, 6.23 ERA) is 2-0 in his last three starts. Jarrod Saltalamacchia will do the catching.

Brett Gardner is back at the top of the Yankees' lineup, adding another element of speed to the order. Eric Chavez replaces Eduardo Nunez at third base.

First pitch is scheduled for 4:10 p.m.
