Nathan Horton’s Bout With Toronto’s Dion Phaneuf Earns Bruins Fight of the Week Honors for Week 1

Editor's note: Every day leading up to the start of the 2011-12 season, will post one fight from the 2010-11
Bruins season. At the end of each week, fans can vote for what they thought was the best fight of the week, and after every fight has been posted, they can vote on which fight was the best of the year.

In the opening week of's Bruins Fight of the Year contest, we saw two fights by Gregory Campbell and Milan Lucic, Bruins enforcer Shawn Thornton throw fists and NHL bad boy Sean Avery get into it with Mark Stuart

However, it  was Nathan Horton who earned Fight of the Week honors for his battle against Dion Phaneuf.

By the end of the season, Horton won over the heart of just about every Bruins fan, but back in the first week of the season, he gained their trust by wrestling Phaneuf to the ground and pummeling him until the men in stripes could pull him off.

Horton's fight won by a wide margin, but second place was much closer, with the Stuart-Avery bout edging out the Thornton-Derek Boogaard rumble by two percent.
