Red Sox Schedule Takes Another Unexpected Turn With Reshuffled Weekend Slate of Games

The East Coast continues to brace for Hurricane Irene and while the preparations being made by many up and down the Eastern Seaboard are more important than sports, that doesn't mean Major League Baseball hasn't had its hands full either.

With the storm ready to wreak havoc on plenty of major cities from North Carolina up to Maine, baseball, in accordance with the teams, has had to scramble to prepare the weekend schedule with washouts surely to take place. The Red Sox come home for three games over the weekend with Oakland, a series that will now be played on Friday and Saturday with Sunday's game being "preponed" and turned into a doubleheader on Saturday.

According to The Boston Globe's Peter Abraham, the original plan was to play a doubleheader on Friday. That idea, however, was shot down by the Red Sox players.
