Tim Wakefield's next attempt at win No. 200 is likely to come away from Fenway Park.
Terry Francona announced his starting rotation for this weekend's series with the Rangers, and he has opted to go with Andrew Miller, Erik Bedard and John Lackey for a three-game set at home with the Rangers over the weekend. Wakefield, in all likelihood, will get the ball during the team's following series in Toronto.
Miller will make the start in the series opener. Had the Red Sox rotation not changed, he would have been slated to pitch the third game of the Yankees series, but a crazy weekend schedule has made it possible to have Jon Lester come back on normal rest to pitch the finale on Thursday.
Francona opted to have Miller, who shut down the Rangers in his last start, to make the start against Texas, followed by Bedard and Lackey.
Wakefield's historic struggles — a 10-17 record with a 6.36 career ERA against the Rangers — likely played a role in the decision, as Francona starts to set up his rotation for the stretch run and the playoffs.
Derek Holland and Colby Lewis are expected to start on Friday and Saturday, respectively, while the starter for Sunday's finale has not yet been revealed.
