Report: Jim Thome Accepts Deal to Return to Cleveland

Jim Thome is going back to Cleveland.

ESPN's Buster Olney reported that Thome, who has a no-trade clause, accepted a trade from the Twins to the Indians after Minnesota placed the designated hitter on waivers. According to a report from CBSSports.com, the Twins will receive a player to be named later in exchange for Thome.

The 40-year-old Thome spent the first nine seasons of his career in Cleveland, where he belted 334 home runs for the Tribe.

Thome will look to help the Indians fill the void left by Travis Hafner, who will miss time with a foot strain and could be out for the rest of the season.
