The New York Yankees failed to make a move at Sunday's non-waiver trade deadline, meaning the team will need to rely on younger players to contribute down the stretch. One of those players is likely to be their top prospect.

John Nalbone of the Trenton Times reports that Yankees catching prospect Jesus Montero is "expected to join the Yankees' lineup in the very near future". Montero was ranked as the top prospect in the Yankees organization by Baseball America.

Montero is batting .283 this season with 10 home runs and 48 RBIs. While his defense remains suspect, he could still be an upgrade over current Yanks catcher Russell Martin. Since finishing April with a .292 average and six homers, Martin has gone .200-4-21 since.

Last season, Montero was dangled in front of the Seattle Mariners in exchange for pitcher Cliff Lee, who instead was traded to the Texas Rangers.
