Staten Island, New York Overcame Tough State Competition to Make East Region Tournament


In a district that has featured 15 state champions, the Great Kills squad from Staten Island in New York City certainly had some legitimate competition. The team still managed to dominate its opponents, winning 10 straight through districts and states to reach the East Regional.

The team's pitching and defense has been commended for their contributions to the team. The pitching staff allowed three runs or less seven times, and has averaged around three runs per game. The offense has added positively, too, anchored by some home run hitters in the heart of the lineup. The Great Kills offense averaged close to nine runs per game.
