Which Patriots Player Was Most Impressive in Preseason Opening Win Over Jaguars? Call preseason football whatever you want, but Thursday night’s tilt between the Patriots and Jaguars was just what the region needed.

New Englanders witnessed their beloved Pats dismantle the Jags — albeit without their big names — at Gillette Stadium, just weeks after fans were unsure if there would even be an NFL season played this year. While the Tom Brady-less Patriots took it to the Jaguars with ease, a few players really stepped things up and stole the spotlight.

Brian Hoyer got the start under center and finished with 15 of 21 with 171 yards and a touchdown while rookie Ryan Mallett lit up the Jags’ secondary by completing 12 of 19 pass attempts for 164 yards and a TD strike.

The ground game was paced by rookie Stevan Ridley, who ran 16 times for 64 yards and two TDs while receiver Taylor Price was the only receiver to break the 100-receiving yard plateau with 105 yards on five receptions, including one TD catch in the second quarter.
