Football fans have waited long enough for their sport to return. It looks like not even the leader of the free world will keep them from getting their fix.
President Barack Obama is scheduled to give a speech on Thursday, Sept. 8, which is the same night that the defending Super Bowl-champion Green Bay Packers are supposed to open the NFL season against the New Orleans Saints. However, according to ProFootballTalk.com, the president's speech likely won't interfere with the game despite previous concerns that it may.
Obama is expected to speak at 7:30 p.m., while kickoff for the Pack-Saints isn't set to go off until 8:30 p.m.
However, PFT reports that's still not good enough for all football fans. NBC may look to carry the pregame festivities on one of the network's sister stations to ensure that fans are able to kick off the season the way they choose — not listening to the president describe how he hopes to create jobs.
