Bear Knuckle Bouts: Adam McQuaid Engages in Third Fight With Stars in Game’s Opening Seconds

Editor's note: Every day leading up to the start of the 2011-12 season, NESN.com will post one fight from the 2010-11 Bruins season. At the end of each week, fans can vote for what they thought was the best fight of the week, and after every fight has been posted, they can vote on which fight was the best of the year.

This time, after two fights in the first 2 seconds, a whole 2 seconds elapsed before another fight started.

When Adam McQuaid and Brian Sutherby started circling each other, they found themselves starring in the third fight of the game, which hadn't even passed 5 seconds on the game clock. Like Shawn Thornton before him, McQuaid dominated the fight — not really allowing Sutherby to get in any punches. In the beginning of the fight, McQuaid hit Sutherby a couple of times while artfully dodging Sutherby's attempts, but later in the fight McQuaid let off a string of punches and Sutherby had no chance. McQuaid's last two punches really left Sutherby dizzy and off balance, and Sutherby fell to the ice.
